It will cover two weekends to accomodate everyone who plans to come to town.
September 9th-11th and September 16th-18th.
Ryanne and I are thinking of going and spending the whole week as a vacation.

Here is where you can get the info. As far as I know it’s free.

A Vision for you

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

Here’s a video by The Random Show showing the coolness of the VlogMap.
You can fly around the earth and visit all these different videobloggers.
As of August 2005, there is still a strong sense of community.
Just look at the chaotic network we are creating.
People around the world, offering an unmediated window into their lives.

Want to where all the videobloggers are based?
This just in from Matt at VlogMap:

The VlogMap.org data is now available for Google Earth.
The Google Earth application is currently only available for Windows,
but I highly recommend you check it out (especially the 3D buildings
in major cities).

Instructions are here.

VIDEO: Marc Canter explains OurMedia till now

Monday, August 1st, 2005

I went to Blogher this weekend with Ryan.
Saw Marc Canter and asked him about OurMedia and the Internet Archive.
It’s been slow and slightly screwy lately.
So here’s a video of our info exchange.

For those of you who dont know, Marc Canter and JD Lasica started Ourmedia.org in January.
They got in running in April(?)….and have helped the Videoblogging Community bootstrap itself into existence by offering free hosting of our videos through the Internet Archive.

Ourmedia has gone through a lot of growing pains in the last 4 months. Crashes, slow downloads, missing media, etc. But it is geting better and better. You must understand that other than the free servers that the Archive is providing, it’s all been done by volunteers and the programmers that Marc has hired with his own money.

Marc Canter is one of those guys that has a strong personality that everyone has an opinion about.
To me, he has always been goofy and open, always wanting to make personal media more and more of a reality.
