A week has passed since Vloggercon ended. It pretty much consumed my life the last month, and I didn’t know how to post about it. Then I saw Verdi’s recent video.
Vloggercon was pretty amazing time. Why?
Because everyone had ownership of it. We set up a simple structure and allowed for organized chaos to occur. And it was crazy. So many good people making it happen.
But like Verdi, I feel like I experienced very important…and now things got to evolve. I heard so many good ideas and plans. Now in my mind, I want to see them happen. I even started recording these thoughts I heard here. I want us to remember and push forward.
There are casual videobloggers who make and post video. But I also met some people who want to do some crazy crazy stuff. We know that the opportunity is now, and we don’t know there are boundaries. I’m not explaining myself well. Will we be happy if we meet again in a year and nothing has changed? I don’t think so. This is why I’m feeling frustrated. I know we got to get down to it, and it’s going to be a lot of work.
One thing for sure: Vloggercon is not a place for a typical confernce structure. Two days, hour-long sessions, etc. Videobloggers need to hang out and work together. Sit and talk. Time is needed. If we do it again, we need to rent out a church camp where we can stay all week, bring the family, have day-long workshops, and spend time.
Anyway…here are the resources in case you missed the event. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

I agree Jay.
We had lots of time for meeting everyone, but not enough for talking to anyone.

Totally agree. I feel like I do video in a vaccum often and don’t have or make the time to work with other videobloggers. It’s one thing for me to watch other people’s stuff, but another to share ideas, inspiration and tips with people I really appreciate.
BarCampSF is this weekend. Maybe this would be a good opportunity to do just that. Hmmm.
Spending time.. that’s what seems so important. Vloggercon was awesome.. but I wasn’t sure what to do! Spend quality time with a few people and really get to know them, or talk to everyone I wanted to meet, and just get to know them a little bit. I ended up spending quality time with a certain group.. which I am glad I did, but I so much wanted to get to know more people too. Camp sounds great!!
Hmmmm….makes me think of something kind of like Burning Man, but smaller and maybe a little less hedonistic. I
Jay,
I just watched your opening comments/speech video on the vloggercon site. Man I wish I could have been there…I am going to mark my books now for next years, or the next big meeting! Really enjoyed your speech
I didn’t get to say thanks Jay. Thanks for all you did at vloggercon.
